TRYOUT REGISTRATION

PLAYER AGE DETERMINATION
- Travel Teams are designated by age level (12U = 12 years old and under etc.).
- Age is determined by the players age as of May 1, 2017
- Darien Stars gives priority to players that are in the same grade and meet the team age requirement. Typically players are not recommended to play up unless it impacts an age groups ability to field a full team.
PLAYING UP
- Parents/Players need to notify Darien Stars Director, Tom Demos , prior to the tryout, that their child(ren) is interested in trying out for an older age level.
- Players are only allowed to play up one age level.
- Players that want to play up, during team selection process, cannot take the roster spot of anyone in that age group at 12U because this team travels to South Carolina or Cooperstown.
- Players that want to play up, during team selection process, are evaluated as being that age group when they have a sibling on the same team.
- For every age group besides 12U, any player that is wanting to play up must rank in the top 8 of players trying out for that age group to be considered for that team, again unless the team does not have enough players to field a full team.
- Players that don’t have enough players for a team at their age group can be considered to play up to the next age level.
- Any player that is chosen to play up from their current age group must do so in travel and in-house games.
- Players that do have a team a their age group, but want to play up, will be strongly recommended to stay in their respective age group.
- The final decision about playing up is the baseball commissioners after discussion with the tournament director and director from that league.
- Players in their own age group are given more consideration than players playing up.
